Rumours are resurfacing about the potential transfer of 19 year old Sao Paolo midfield schemer Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva. The Guardian rumour mill reports today that Sir Fergie will attempt to beat Real Madrid to the signature of one the ‘hottest prospects’ in South American football. Dubbed the new Robinho he loves a mazy dribble with the ball and seems to know where the goal is.
Other than that his YouTube videos look pretty much identical to those of United’s Anderson before he came to Old Trafford. Based on those clips Anderson (the new Ronaldinho) was a goal-scoring machine. But, as we now know, in reality he is far from deadly in front of goal.
I would now be a little weary about signing ‘hot prospects’ from Brazil. Obviously the country still produces some of the finest footballers in the world but neither Kleberson (the old Anderson) or Anderson (the rich man’s Kleberson/new Ronaldinho/ the Brazilian Terry Gibson) have been a resounding success in United’s midfield so you would imagine that SAF (the new Bill Shankly) would be highly cautious about signing a 19 year old who hasn’t played outside Brazil (the hot Blackpool).
So, although the name Lucas keeps popping up in relation to Manchester United, this rumour should definitely be taken with a liberal pinch of salt.
