If the Guardian rumour mill is to be believed, Standard Liege defender Daniel Opare is on the radar of under fire Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. I, for one, have long maintained that the Frenchman needs to concentrate on his defence as a priority, but ‘The Flying Ghanaian’ Opare appears to be a particularly adventurous full-back.
Wenger seems to have a penchant for nippy, forward thinking full-backs but surely he should be looking for defenders who can defend first and foremost. On the basis of the available internet video evidence Opare seems like a decent player but a defender in the attacking mould. Would he do much for an, at times, suspect defensive unit?
With Bacary Sagna in the ranks it seems unlikely that this guy would be top of the list of priorities for Arsene.
