In what would be a massive coup for the North London club the guardian reports today that Eden Hazard may prefer a move to Tottenham in the summer. He is quoted on a Belgian TV station as saying,
“Maybe I’ll go to Tottenham. It’s a great English club.”
As clouds hover over White Hart Lane with the expected departure of Harry Redknapp, this news will go some way to assuage the worries of fans. Hazard, for my money, will become one of the top 3 to 5 players in the world in the next few years. He’s fast, two-footed, saturated with guile and has a proper football brain. Think Zidane with better dribbling ability.
This potential move would surely be a big blow to England’s other elite clubs who have all, at some time, been linked to the Belgian wizard.
Whoever gets Hazard will enjoy the fruits of his impending maturity. Surely, come the summer, he will be the most sought after player in Europe, so if Tottenham can pull off the signing – and hold onto their best players – they will be serious challengers for the title this time next year.
