Man United are preparing to make a generous offer for Danny Rose

Jose Mourinho has now identified Danny Rose as his first-choice left-back target and is confident the Tottenham defender will arrive at Manchester United either in January or the summer.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim Spurs only didn’t let the England international go in August because they had already allowed Kyle Walker to join Manchester City.

Mauricio Pochettino was adamant that both his full-backs wouldn’t be leaving north London, hence why he persevered with Rose in spite of his controversial interview with The Sun, in which he admitted he would be open to quitting a club at which he is currently the longest-serving player.

More recently, he has been playing second fiddle to Ben Davies.

The 27-year-old was a surprise omission from the match day squad for the 2-0 north London derby defeat in November and while that was ostensibly to work on his fitness, it echoes how Walker was gradually frozen out at White Hart Lane in his final months.

United are planning to offer £50million, as Mourinho has been having to operate with Ashley Young at left-back because he is unconvinced by any of his more conventional options in that position.
