Arsenal still haven’t given up hope of signing Thomas Lemar despite pulling out of a deal on Deadline Day.

The Sun report that the Gunners had scouts in attendance as the French international inspired Monaco to a 2-0 win over Bordeaux, scoring a brilliant solo goal for their second.

In the summer, a £90million move for the 21-year-old fell through once it became clear that Alexis Sanchez would be staying at the Emirates, with Manchester City refusing to let Raheem Sterling go the other way in a part-exchange.

Lemar remains firmly on the radar, though club legend Robert Pires has warned the moment may have passed.

“Arsene tried to buy Lemar, and tried very hard, but I don’t think the move will happen now,” Pires told Bwin.

“I don’t think he’s worth £90m, it’s too much, the market is crazy. What would Zidane and Ronaldinho be worth now?!”

Sanchez shows no signs of committing to a new contract, which leaves Arsene Wenger with the dilemma of whether to sell him in January or allow him to leave for nothing at the end of the season.

The same applies to Mesut Ozil, though the playmaker’s situation is attracting less attention than the Chilean’s.

Monaco lost several first-team stars in the summer, including Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, and Tiemoue Bakayoko. Lemar was one of the few key players they kept hold of, but it’s unlikely they’ll snub Arsenal if they present another huge offer.
