Mesut Ozil is growing increasingly confident of reuniting with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
The playmaker is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season and is unlikely to commit to a new deal.
While much of the focus has been on Alexis Sanchez’s potential move to Manchester City, the Mirror report that Ozil is so sure of his imminent departure that he has already told his team-mates he is on his way to Old Trafford in January.
Arsene Wenger is reluctant to sell any of his key players to a Premier League rival, but he may have no choice as the alternative is to let the 29-year-old leave for nothing next summer.
It already looks as if Wenger is preparing for life without the divisive World Cup winner, who has only started four league games this season.
Mourinho, on the other hand, is a huge fan of his former player and United would have no problem meeting his wage demands, though it’s unlikely he’ll earn the excess of £300,000 a week his representatives have been demanding.
The Red Devils could face competition from Inter Milan, but the Nerazzurri cannot offer Champions League football.
