Arsenal spent the last few days of the transfer window clinging onto Alexis Sanchez, but fellow contract rebel Mesut Ozil appears no closer to signing an extension.

The pair’s current deals run out at the end of the season and while Sanchez has made it clear he wants to leave, his German team-mate has struggled to attract concrete interest from other top clubs.

Despite his suggestions that he’ll stay at the Emirates, Sport Bild claim that Arsenal haven’t held talks with the playmaker since February.

Those negotiations – which saw the former Real Madrid man offered €9million per season – were reportedly cut short because of doubts about Arsene Wenger’s future, with the Frenchman considering Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Le Professeur committed to another two years at the end of May and still no progress has been made on tying key players down.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was in the same situation as Sanchez and Ozil and opted to leave for Liverpool in a £35million move, snubbing a pay rise in the process.
