Liverpool planning late raid for midfielder

Liverpool may be plotting for life after Philippe Coutinho as they step up their search for a replacement.

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte – the same publication that broke the news that Neymar wanted to join PSG – claim that the Reds are monitoring Coutinho’s international team-mate Luan.

The 24-year-old is expected to leave Gremio and has held talks with Spartak Moscow, but that has now been put on hold. That has prompted Liverpool to step in, sending scouts to watch him in action last night.

Luan can play either as a playmaker or as a forward, and while Jurgen Klopp’s attack already looks scintillating, he may need reinforcements if he loses Coutinho to Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have tested Liverpool’s resolve with another £90million bid, per the Telegraph, an offer which has been rejected.

Gremio have warned Liverpool they will have to act fast if they want to sign the highly-rated star, who is rated at just over £18million.
