The futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil has been the major story surrounding Arsenal this summer.
Both the Gunners’ star players have just a year left on their respective contracts.
While the Chilean appears no closer to signing a new deal, there has been progress on Ozil.
The German international is now expected to sign a new deal on £280,000 a week, having initially demanded £350,000, per the Daily Mail.
It’s reported the playmaker has had to climb down after struggling to attract interest from other clubs.
Of course, that’s not the case with Sanchez. Le Parisien suggest Paris Saint-Germain are looking to negotiate, while widespread reports have placed Manchester City in pole position for his signature despite Arsenal’s insistence he won’t be sold to a rival Premier League club.
Even if keeping Sanchez is out of the question, Arsene Wenger will no doubt be delighted that he should be able to keep hold of one key prong in his attack.
Ozil has scored 23 league goals and recorded 42 assists since joining the club from Real Madrid in 2013.
