Alexis Sanchez’s move to PSG has suffered a setback

Alexis Sanchez’s future is suddenly looking more uncertain than ever.

The Chilean has persistently refused to sign a new deal with Arsenal, with just a year remaining on his current contract.

And a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain now looks unlikely.

Le Parisien report that while the Ligue 1 club thought an agreement was close just a matter of days ago, a number of problems have since caused talks to break down completely.

It’s thought the forward’s wage demands are one issue. The Mirror have put that figure at £500,000 a week, even if the request was more the work of his representatives than the player himself.

Secondly, Arsenal are proving stubborn and refusing to accept PSG’s advances. The Parisians were even willing to include a player as part of the switch, but it wasn’t enough to convince the Gunners to part with their prize asset.

Arsene Wenger still hasn’t given up hope of keeping Sanchez, telling reporters that rumours the 28-year-old was in France were wide of the mark:

“No, I don’t think he was in Paris,” Wenger said.

“No. Paris Saint Germain cannot get Sanchez so they go for Neymar.”
