Spurs want City starlet as part of Kyle Walker deal

walker

Kyle Walker is no closer to becoming a Manchester City player despite months of speculation.

The right-back was eclipsed as Tottenham’s first choice right-back by Kieran Trippier towards the end of last season.

The full-back positions proved to be a huge problem for Pep Guardiola in his maiden campaign, so Walker would seem a perfect fit.

The major difficulty is that, according to the Sun, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is holding out for £50million, a price City are reluctant to pay.

However, the same newspaper also suggests that Mauricio Pochettino is an admirer of Kelechi Iheanacho, which could help to move negotiations along.

Spurs will need to act fast if they are to snap up the Nigerian. Leicester have already met City’s asking price of £20million for the striker, who is behind both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order at the Etihad.

It also remains to be seen whether the 20-year-old is happy to play second fiddle to Harry Kane in the manner that Vincent Janssen has done.

Borussia Dortmund and Monaco are the other clubs thought to be interested in offering Iheanacho an escape route.

If Walker wants to go then the deal should ONLY go ahead on a swap plus cash basis with no buyback clause otherwise NO DEAL.
