Arsenal want to stop Alexis Sanchez from joining two clubs in particular

With Alexis Sanchez seemingly no closer to signing a new deal with Arsenal, it’s almost certain he’s on his way out of the Emirates this summer.

The Chilean has just a year left on his contract and has been attracting plenty of interest from elsewhere.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are planning to stand firm and refuse to allow him to join a Premier League rival.

That rules out Manchester City and Chelsea, both of whom are believed to have spoken with his representatives in recent weeks.

City looked to be leading the race, particularly as Sanchez has worked with Pep Guardiola in the past at Barcelona.

Even if either club were willing to pay £45million, Arsenal are concerned that they will simply be falling further behind if they strengthen another top six side.

Bayern Munich and Juventus are the most likely destinations if Arsenal insist the forward goes abroad.

If the situation isn’t resolved this summer, there is always the possibility that he will leave for free in a year’s time, but Arsene Wenger will be keen to avoid another year of uncertainty.
