Olivier Giroud targeted by surprise Premier League club

Olivier Giroud will be watching Arsenal’s transfer business very carefully.

If the Gunners sign another striker, it would almost certainly signal another season on the bench for the Frenchman.

Last week, the Times quoted the forward as saying he “will not be satisfied” with that, so it would be no great surprise if he left the Emirates in the coming months.

The Mirror suggest that West Ham could be a surprise destination for the 30-year-old, who scored 12 Premier League goals this season despite starting just 11 games.

Marseille are also keen, but Slaven Bilic is keen to match any offers from the Ligue 1 club. Giroud is valued at around £20million.

Arsenal are interested in both Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, per the same report, so that would indicate that Arsene Wenger has doubts about Giroud’s capability to lead the side as a first choice striker.

In the FA Cup final, Danny Welbeck was preferred in the starting line-up.

West Ham have already shown their ambition by signing Manchester City veteran Pablo Zabaleta, though after such a disappointing season, the east Londoners may have trouble convincing many top players to join their project.
