Manchester United will be keeping an eye on developments in the Champions League final very closely.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Red Devils could step up their pursuit of Gareth Bale this summer and believe they have a better chance of tempting him if he starts the game in Cardiff on the bench.
This may be reading too much into the situation, as the Tottenham man has been struggling with injuries. If Zinedine Zidane doesn’t award him a place in the starting XI, it will most likely be because he isn’t fully fit.
Nonetheless, the final against Juventus carries special significance for Bale because it’s in his hometown.
Real Madrid are understandably not keen to lose the Welshman, particularly as Cristiano Ronaldo is now 32-years-old.
Bale has often been spoken about in the same breath as United, but it has always seemed a distant rumour. Given the rate Jose Mourinho is spending, however, perhaps this summer there is more of a chance than usual that it might actually happen.
