Abou Diaby’s career has suffered another sad turn

Former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby finds himself in a familiar crisis as he prepares to leave Marseille.

French publication L’Equipe report that he will not be offered a new deal at the Ligue 1 club, having played just twice this season and four times in the previous campaign.

The 31-year-old’s problems will come as no surprise to Gunners fans, who lamented his incredibly frustrating stint at the Emirates for what it might have been.

There has never been any doubt as to Diaby’s ability, but he has been desperately unlucky on the injury front.

Marseille are unwilling to keep him on even though his current contract only requires them to pay him when he actually features.

Diaby underwent ankle surgery last October and was unable to return to training until March.

The newspaper suggests he will now use the close season to make a decision on his future. It has to be said that the chances of many clubs taking a risk on him look slim despite his talent.
