Luka Modric pursued by four clubs – including two from the Premier League

Luka Modric is a strong candidate for best playmaker in the world right now.

The way the Croatian controls the Real Madrid midfield has made him invaluable to the European champions, but they may well have to convince him of that this summer if other clubs come calling.

Diario Gol report that the former Tottenham star is a wanted man, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain both interested in acquiring his services.

Munich will lose the retiring Xabi Alonso at the end of the season, and Modric would be one of the few who could replace the Spaniard effectively.

Yet, there are also those hoping the midfielder makes a return to the Premier League, which he left in 2012.

Arsenal and Chelsea are the other clubs being linked, though either would represent a controversial move for the ex-Lilywhite.

Florentino Perez is expected to make big changes at the Bernabeu this summer regardless of whether Los Blancos win the La Liga and Champions League double, with a focus on bringing on young players.

That does not mean, however, that the 31-year-old will be one of the names to go. Veteran defender Pepe is on his way out, and it seems a while yet before the club even consider allowing Modric to depart.
