The likelihood of Gareth Bale signing for Manchester United this summer seems a little remote, but there does seem to be some progress on a potential deal.
That’s according to Spanish publication Diario Gol, who have been pushing this story for the last few days.
They suggest that the Welshman’s agent has begun talks with United officials, with the Red Devils one of the few clubs who could realistically afford him.
The former Spurs midfielder has had a difficult season at the Bernabeu, but mainly because he’s had so many injury problems.
In his absence, Zinedine Zidane has been forced to rely on Isco, but Bale is unquestionably first choice when fit.
Yet, Isco has been impressive and that could convince Los Blancos that they can afford to let Bale go if he wants to return to the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho, of course, has close links with Real and is willing to offer the 27-year-old an escape route. There’s every chance that his muscle injuries will continue to plague him at United, though.
