Jose Mourinho has serious injury worries ahead of West Brom

Jose Mourinho has been left rueing the international break as he attempts to prepare for Manchester United’s game against West Brom.

The Baggies’ last Premier League outing saw them dispense with a hapless Arsenal outfit 3-1, so United can’t afford to take them lightly.

The Mirror report that Mourinho’s biggest headache comes at the back, where he will be without both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones after they suffered injuries on duty with England.

The central midfield isn’t faring much better, with Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini still injured. Ander Herrera is suspended following his FA Cup red card against Chelsea, so Michael Carrick is likely to partner Daley Blind in the middle.

Wayne Rooney has been out for three weeks and is still a doubt, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic will complete the last game of his own ban.

It’s the worst possible time for United to be missing so many players, as they face West Brom, Everton, Sunderland, Anderlecht, Chelsea, Burnley, Manchester City and Swansea all before the end of April.

Mourinho will no doubt be furious with the football authorities for allowing this to happen, but the fact remains that he put out strong teams in the cup and two of his players have let him down with completely unnecessary suspensions.
