Yaya Toure has not given up hope of staying at Manchester City despite having just six months left on his contract.
The Ivorian, who has won two titles during his time at the Etihad, has finally made his way back into Pep Guardiola’s side after a previous falling out between the manager and his agent Dimitri Seluk.
Guardiola has been impressed with his attitude upon his return and is now set to include him in his Champions League squad for the knockout stages, but the midfielder is hoping to achieve even more with City.
In that vein, he has reportedly turned down a £430,000-a-week offer from an unnamed Chinese Super League club, per the Daily Mail.
That would have seen him picking up over £22million a year in wages, but this isn’t the first time he has snubbed such a deal.
Last year, Jiangsu Suning offered him £520,000 a week, but to his credit, he has chosen to remain focused on winning more trophies with City.
“Yaya plays on another level,” his agent Seluk said, via the same newspaper.
“He wants to play at the highest level. He’s happy at Manchester City. Yaya likes football more than money.”
Toure can now speak to foreign clubs with his contract set to expire, but he has said that he isn’t considering leaving City while the season is still going on.
“No, I won’t do that,” he said.
“My focus (is) on City, the future is there because for now the league is not finished.”
