The ridiculous money Man City are willing to pay for Lionel Messi

Pep Guardiola simply has to do something to appease the situation at Manchester City.

After watching his side concede four at Everton on Sunday, the Catalan looked exasperated as to where to turn next.

His signings of Claudio Bravo and John Stones were once again at the centre of a poor performance in a game when City had over 70% of the possession.

Yet, it seems rather than focusing on their problems at the back, Guardiola aims to go on the offensive by launching an absurd bid for Lionel Messi.

This isn’t going to appease critics who claim the manager was over-reliant on the star at Barcelona, but City clearly have the money to make it happen.

According to the Sun, they are going to offer Barca a world record £100million for the Argentinian, who will be 30 this June.

While the newspaper has made it clear that no formal bid is on the table, City are thought to have discussed the move with the La Liga champions and made it clear they are willing to eclipse the current record transfer – Paul Pogba’s £89million move to neighbours Manchester United.

Messi has just 18 months left on his contract, but is still expecting to stay at the Nou Camp if he can agree on wages with the club, who are being forced to stick to a tight budget. The five time World Player of the Year has scored 26 goals in all competitions this season.
