Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has something of a reputation in the transfer market.
The shrewd businessman pulled off his latest bit of mastery by selling Tom Carroll to Swansea for £4.5million, and that has contributed to some incredible figures when it comes to the club’s net spend.
The Daily Mail have worked out how much Spurs have spent since 2012-2013 compared to the money they’ve made.
While the Lilywhites have splashed out on £315.45million on players, they’ve recouped £314.45m of that – so they have a net spend of just £1million.
Even as a standalone figure, that’s pretty impressive.
However, when it’s compared to other Premier League clubs, it’s even more remarkable.
It will come as no surprise that Manchester City have one of the highest net spends over the last five seasons at £402.55m. Signings like John Stones (£47.5m), Kevin De Bruyne (£55m), Leroy Sane (£37m), and Raheem Sterling (£45m) mean there’s more even more pressure on Pep Guardiola to perform with them, even if he wasn’t responsible for the majority of those acquisitions.
Elsewhere, Manchester United have spent over £500m, partly duo to Paul Pogba’s £89million. Ironically, it’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 19 goals this season which have them challenging for the top four, and he didn’t cost a penny.
Arsenal may be the self-proclaimed kings of low spending, but their net spend is £205.89m, putting them third among Premier League clubs.
It makes Mauricio Pochettino’s achievements all the more impressive, and with the current squad needing very few improvements, Tottenham should be able to keep it up.

Yes you must give Mr Levy credit for a remarkable stat in the transfer market
in the last five seasons of 1 million net spend .
Also a new stadium in the making, and nearly full capacity for European matches
at Wembley, and possibly for all matches there next season, because of a fantastic
Fan base, things are looking good for the future.
The present squad of players are the best we have ever had in the Premier,
so because we are in a great position to push on for the premiership title this
season ,the Chairman must take a big gamble price wise in the January transfer window ,
and cover the only position of weakness I.e. cover for Harry Kane, and bring in
a proven Premiership striker ,at a cost. C.O.Y.S.
