Marouane Fellaini was all smiles after his goal against Hull City in midweek.
The Belgian ran straight to Jose Mourinho to celebrate after putting Manchester United 2-0 up, evidently thankful for his manager’s patience with him this season.
It’s only a matter of weeks since the midfielder was booed when he came on at Old Trafford, a harsh punishment for his mistake in the 1-1 draw with Everton.
Yet, Mourinho has stood by him, and now it seems the club are sticking with him too.
BBC Sport are reporting that Fellaini has been offered a contract extension to keep him at United until 2018, with his previous deal ending this summer.
When he signed from Everton, he put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the option of another year, and the Red Devils have now activated that option.
United fans may have mixed feelings about this, but at the very least, it means he shouldn’t be leaving for free when the time comes.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the 29-year-old has featured 20 times this season.
