Arsenal are facing a period of uncertainty as they head into the New Year.
Arsene Wenger might be feeling a little aggrieved – he’s out of contract in the summer, but all anyone connected with the club is interested in is the situation surrounding Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
Their pair have just 18 months to run on their current deals, and as the Gunners have often struggled to hold onto their biggest stars, it’s easy to see why the fans are getting a little nervy.
Wenger has a plan to cheer them up if he can’t convince Sanchez and Ozil to commit, though, as he’s lining up two bigger and better names to come in.
Squawka suggest that Antoine Griezmann and Marco Reus are his main targets – and Griezmann would be a particularly big coup with Manchester United also eyeing the Atletico Madrid superstar.
The diminutive Frenchman may find it difficult to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League and he is set to cost around £60million, but he and Reus would both be a huge statement of intent from Arsenal.
The difficulty is that the club are reluctant to give Ozil and Sanchez over £200,000 a week, and they’re going to struggle to convince players like Griezmann and Reus to sign on for any less than that.
