Chelsea boosted by potentially significant James Rodriguez update

Chelsea’s pursuit of James Rodriguez may have stepped up a gear judging by reports in Spain.

The Real Madrid outcast is still hot property in the market after starring at the World Cup in Brazil two years ago, and Antonio Conte is thought to be keen to bring him to the Premier League.

The Colombian has never made much of an impact at the Bernabeu following his move from Monaco in 2014, and it’s no wonder given the league of players he’s had to compete with.

However, that torment could all be about to come to an end.

AS have spotted him exiting the British Embassy, which may well be a sign that he has been applying for a visa to work in the UK.

Of course, this is still at the stage of speculation, but you can hardly blame Chelsea fans for getting excited.

The 25-year-old has scored once in La Liga this season, but having shown his talent on the world stage for his country, he’s set to cost between £60-£75million.

Conte will simply have to hope that he adapts to English football better than the Spanish game.
