Manchester United are going to have to pull out all the stops if they want to sign Gelson Martins.
The Sporting Lisbon star has been on the Red Devils’ radar for a while, but they are still debating whether he is worth paying a potential £52million for – as that’s the release clause in his contract.
Yet, they need to act fast if they are going to make a bid. The 21-year-old might not be available for much longer, as several clubs are locked in a tug-of-war over his future.
Sporting are themselves hoping he’ll sign a new deal to commit to them, but according to the Sun, Barcelona have now joined the race for his services.
United were already having to compete with Real Madrid for the winger, but it’s now going to be even harder to convince him to ditch the continent in favour of a move to England.
Martins is set to make his senior Portugal debut this weekend.
