Tottenham using bizarre tactic in training to improve fitness

Just like that, Tottenham have overtaken Manchester City as the team to beat.

Spurs are now the only unbeaten side left in the Premier League after cruising to a 2-0 victory over City, courtesy of an Aleksandar Kolarov own goal and a neat finish from Dele Alli.

Prior to the game, Pep Guardiola had been singing Mauricio Pochettino’s praises, and if there was any doubt then that the Argentinian is one of the finest managers in the world, there surely won’t be any now after a scintillating performance from his men.

The Lilywhites looked fit, sharp, and untouchable, thanks largely to the extensive work on one-touch passing Pochettino has been working on over the past few weeks.

However, according to the Times, that is not the only secret behind Spurs’ unbelievable stamina.

Pochettino has reportedly brought in a cage-fighter to teach his players wrestling techniques, with the ultimate aim of increasing their upper body strength and general fitness.

After a fantastic start to the season, Spurs’ only worry will be a collapse like last season, so it’s no wonder the manager has taken preemptive action to ensure this time they’re ready to go the distance.
