West Ham could be gearing up to sack Slaven Bilic

Things go from bad to worse at West Ham.

Second-season syndrome is a recognised condition in the Premier League, but it usually applies to newly-promoted teams. In just Slaven Bilic’s second year at the club, however, it all seems to be falling apart.

Last season was so promising – a seventh-placed finish, which could have been higher, and superb performances from the likes of Dimitri Payet, Mark Noble, and Michail Antonio.

Fast forward to this campaign, and the Hammers sit 18th after five games, with regular fan fighting to add to their problems.

In fact, such is the concern in the boardroom that talks over a new contract for Bilic have now been put on hold.

The Sun
are reporting that the Croatian boss even faces the sack if things don’t improve – with co-owner David Sullivan having told them he wants to make sure Bilic is “not a one-season wonder”.

The 48-year-old was all set to put pen to paper on a new deal in the New Year, but he’ll be lucky if he lasts that long. Two wins in their last 12 have left it all looking pretty bleak at the London Stadium, and something has got to change soon.
