Mario Balotelli is a name which continues to haunt Liverpool even after he’s left.
The Italian finally ended his miserable spell at the club this summer, when he was allowed to join Ligue 1 side Nice on a free transfer – despite still having time left to run on his contract.
Jurgen Klopp evidently had no time for the striker, and judging by Balotelli’s latest comments – which hit out at both Klopp and predecessor Brendan Rodgers – it looks like the feeling’s reciprocated.
“Besides the fans, who were fantastic, and some players who I got on really well with, I just didn’t like the club,” he told Canal+ Sport.
“I had two coaches, Rodgers and Klopp for a brief period but neither their methods nor their personalities impressed me. I never felt right there.”
Admitting joining Liverpool was the “worst decision of his life”, it seems like the misfit still hasn’t done any soul-searching as to why his once-promising career has hit a stumbling block.
So far, his dreadful attitude isn’t holding him back in France, albeit in a weaker league, as he scored twice on his debut to put his Premier League demons to bed. That’s already twice the goals he scored in a year at Liverpool, so perhaps things will start to finally improve for Balotelli after all.
