Joe Hart makes a howler on Torino debut

Joe Hart will have been praying Pep Guardiola missed his Torino debut against Atalanta.

The Manchester City boss raised eyebrows with his decision to exile the England goalkeeper to Serie A, particularly after his replacement Claudio Bravo’s howler in the Manchester derby.

That decision was quickly vindicated, though, by Hart’s own performance.

The stopper didn’t make nearly enough contact when trying to punch the ball out from a corner, and as fate would have it, it fell to Andrea Masiello, who found the back of the net.

Torino lost the game 2-1, despite Hart making a fine save in the first half.

Oddly enough, Guardiola didn’t seem too bothered by Bravo’s similar mistake, as he is more interested in the Chilean’s distribution, so perhaps he will be more focused on Hart’s kicking too.

With City having spent £17million on Bravo, though, it seems there’s no way back for Hart regardless of how he performs in Turin – which is just as well judging by his debut.
