Erik Lamela is reportedly asking Tottenham for £120,000 a week if he is to sign a new deal.
The Mirror are reporting that the Argentinian is set to follow in the footsteps of team-mates Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen by putting pen to paper, but his representatives are haggling over his wages.
Spurs do not currently pay any of their players over £100,000 a week and that is unlikely to change with Lamela.
However, the same was reported of Eriksen and it proved to be false, so it remains to be seen how the midfielder will compromise.
Lamela already has three years left on his current contract, so there is no immediate hurry, but Mauricio Pochettino will want to get rid of any distractions as the Lilywhites embark on their first Champions League campaign in five years.
Eriksen, who signed his extension last week, looked rejuvenated in the 4-0 win over Stoke, so Spurs fans will be hoping Lamela’s situation is resolved sooner rather than later.
Kyle Walker is also set to be given a new deal after the right-back’s hugely impressive start to the season.
