Tottenham’s new stadium is still two years away from completion, but that hasn’t stopped them carving out some pretty crazy plans for their new home.
On the face of it, the new ground – which, incidentally, still doesn’t have a name other than ‘Northumberland Park’ – is all about transforming Spurs back into one of the biggest teams in the country.
Yet, anyone who has followed chairman Daniel Levy closely will know that there’s always much more to it than that, and that the stadium is a huge commercial venture.
The club have made an agreement with the NFL to host American Football, which already sounds ridiculous enough given the impact that could have on the pitch.
Spurs are planning to have a surface that retracts with an NFL pitch underneath, however that works, and Levy has now revealed a further twist.
The Lilywhites supremo has told ESPN that they could even host Premier League and NFL matches on the same day, which has got to be a logistical nightmare.
The new ‘White Hart Lane’ should host two NFL games a year for ten years, but having them on the same day as Tottenham play might take a little rethinking.
