Eddie Howe reveals Jack Wilshere’s impact at Bournemouth

Bournemouth left it late to conduct their biggest piece of business in the summer transfer window.

Just when it looked as if the Cherries had done all the fine-tuning their squad needed, Eddie Howe pulled off the audacious swoop of Jack Wilshere, bringing in the Arsenal midfielder on a season-long loan.

The England international may not boast the prowess that he once could, but there’s no doubt that had he been sold permanently, he’d have attracted upwards of at least £30million because of his raw talent.

And Howe admits that while Wilshere is still waiting to make his first Premier League appearance, he has already made a huge impact at Dean Court.

“I hoped the signing and the high profile nature of the signing will give the lads that confidence that having a player like Jack Wilshere in your squad can give,” he told the Mirror.

“I have seen a difference in our players and certainly standing next to them in the tunnel with the team can only inspire belief and confidence in the group.”

Ironically, the first time Wilshere donned a Bournemouth shirt was during the weekend’s friendly against AC Milan – a club he turned down to team up with Howe.

It’s thought that Wilshere’s young family was a factor in that decision, but now that he’s arrived, he’s already proving himself to be a huge asset.

The midfielder should make his competitive debut for the club against West Brom on Saturday.
