Arsene Wenger identifies one main summer target

Lukas Klostermann is now Arsenal’s main target this summer following Gabriel’s injury.

That’s according to Bild, who have it that Arsene Wenger is in the process of preparing a bid for the RB Leipzig defender.

The Gunners have just Laurent Koscielny and new boy Rob Holding fit for the start of the new season, which begins with a home game against Liverpool.

Klostermann is a strange target if that’s Wenger’s concern, as he is currently with Germany at the Olympics and may not even be back in time for that game.

The 20-year-old is extremely versatile and can play anywhere across the back four.

Spurs, Juventus, and Ajax are all thought to have monitored Klostermann in the past, which suggests he’s more than capable of cutting it at the highest level.

Bringing him in could alleviate Wenger’s worries for the rest of the season, but until he arrives, Arsenal’s defence is looking worryingly delicate – and that could see them drop crucial points in the first few games.
