Leicester must have anticipated that their Premier League title success had the potential to spark an exodus from the club this summer.
The Foxes may have held onto Jamie Vardy, but N’Golo Kante’s move to Chelsea could be followed by the exits of two other stars.
One, of course, is Riyad Mahrez, who continues to be linked with Arsenal.
The other is somewhat more surprising, particularly considering his proposed destination.
The Sun are reporting that Tottenham are keen to take advantage of a stall in Danny Drinkwater’s contract talks, with Mauricio Pochettino already considering an audacious bid.
Leicester’s midfield has already been decimated by the loss of Kante, so they are reportedly willing to offer Drinkwater £80,000 to ensure he stays at the King Power.
It seems their fans would particularly resent the Englishman joining Spurs, their nearest title rivals last season, because the Lilywhites would probably not even give him regular first team football.
Pochettino has already brought in Victor Wanyama in that position, where he also has Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier.
The most likely scenario seems that Leicester will give Drinkwater what he wants in his new deal, but that’s not to say Spurs won’t sound him out about a move.
