Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Tottenham’s dealings in the transfer window are far from over.
Spurs have signed Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen so far this summer, with Georges-Kevin N’Koudou also set to arrive in the coming days.
With those three signings, it seems Pochettino has already made the necessary tweaks to his squad, but speaking to the assembled press ahead of his side’s friendly with Atletico Madrid in Melbourne, the Argentinian said:
“I expect some signings in the next few weeks, we will see what happens but I expect some activity.”
Judging by the club’s approach to the transfer window so far, fans shouldn’t expect too many big-money signings, but there is still room for improvement, particularly at the back.
Spurs have reasonably strong depth when it comes to their defence, but were they to lose one or two to injury, it could seriously derail their season.
Jan Vertonghen is expected to recover from the knock he sustained with Belgium at Euro 2016 in time for the new campaign, starting away to Everton.
However, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if Pochettino added a versatile defender, and possibly one more midfielder, to ensure his team don’t burn out like they did last time out.
