Alexandre Pato is on his way to Villarreal after the La Liga club agreed a deal with his parent club Corinthians.
That’s according to ESPN, who are quoting Brazilian source UOL.
Pato spent last season on loan at Chelsea, with quite a few questions raised about why he was signed in the first place after he made just two appearances over the course of the campaign.
Even a goal in one of those games couldn’t convince former interim boss Guus Hiddink that he was worth persevering with, but he will desperate to prove at Villarreal that he can live up to the potential he showed in his early days at AC Milan.
Pato looked full of promise during his time at the San Siro, but his move to Corinthians saw his career stall, with a number of loan spells following.
The Brazilian’s time at Chelsea essentially summed up everything that has gone wrong for him so far, but he may have better luck back on the continent.
