Confusion continues to be the order of the day when it comes to Diego Costa’s Chelsea future, with several sources providing contradictory reports on whether he will leave Chelsea.
Goal.com claimed on Monday that the Spain striker is staying at Stamford Bridge after all and has not told manager Antonio Conte that he wants to leave.
The 27-year-old was reportedly interested in a move to former club Atletico Madrid, but Goal have cited sources close to the player as saying he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.
That’s unlikely to be the end of the saga, however, as reports in Spain indicated that Atleti believed they were close to agreeing a fee.
Club president Enrique Cerezo has since refuted that they would ever comment on another team’s player, as per the Mirror, but it appears a deal is not dead just yet.
Diego Simeone has made re-signing Costa one of his priorities this summer, and with Michy Batshuayi having arrived at Chelsea as a potential replacement, there’s every chance the striker could still be on the move.
