Harry Kane is set to become Tottenham’s highest-earning player of all time in the coming weeks as the club prepare to offer him a new deal.
That’s according to the Guardian, who claim Spurs are determined to keep hold of their star man by giving him a new bumper contract.
Although the 22-year-old had a woeful campaign at Euro 2016, he was the Premier League Golden Boot winner last season and won’t have put off his suitors.
It’s more important than ever that Spurs fend off reported interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid, as they are still stalling in their attempts to sign another striker.
With all that in mind, Kane is to be offered a deal worth £100,000 a week, doubling his current wage of £50,000 a week.
This will be his third deal in just under two years, but it’s fully deserved considering his remarkable rise out of academy obscurity to Premier League sensation.
Kane has scored 49 times in 83 games for the Lilywhites and was a pivotal part of their title challenge.
If he carries on that form next season, putting the Euros behind him, other clubs will no doubt be in for him again – but it looks like he’s staying put for now.
