Manchester United are preparing to do whatever it takes to sign Barcelona superstar Neymar.
That’s according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, who report that Jose Mourinho wants to make the Brazilian his first marquee signing.
Now, Mourinho has been far from quiet in the transfer window so far, stealing a march on United’s Premier League rivals.
While the Portuguese’s old club Chelsea are yet to sign anyone in the window, United have already sealed a deal for defender Eric Bailly, had a bid accepted for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and are expected to complete a deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who needs no introductions, this week.
Yet, Neymar would be an entirely different signing.
While Ibrahimovic is arguably past his best (he may have scored 50 goals in an understrength Ligue 1 last season, but looked worn out at the Euros), Neymar is at the top of his game.
Bailly and Mkhitaryan are also important signings, but they haven’t brought about the kind of buzz that Neymar would arouse.
It will take some convincing to bring him to Old Trafford, but it seems United are willing to go all-out to get their man.
