Arsenal are interested in signing Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetic from Inter Milan, according to several sources.
SportsMediaSet, a well-known Italian source – with a story brought to our attention by the Mirror – believe that the Gunners are considering him, especially because Inter want to offload him anyway.
Premier League fans will be familiar with the name Jovetic as he has been on loan at the San Siro from Manchester City.
It will cost Arsenal £11.5million to bring him to the club, because Inter still owe City money.
He struggled at City, only scoring 8 goals in 2 years, though he was not given many opportunities.
It would be interesting to see what kind of a role he would play at Arsenal.
Would he come in as their main striker, or would he simply be back-up for Olivier Giroud?
With Danny Welbeck out until 2017, Arsenal can’t really afford to be thinking about adding depth to their squad, as their first team lies in tatters up front.
Jamie Vardy’s potential move from Leicester looks ever more unlikely, so while Jovetic might not be the ideal signing, at least he would help Arsene Wenger to placate the baying fans at the Emirates.
