Sunderland midfielder wants Chelsea move

Chelsea seem to be lacking direction in the transfer window.

It may be because Antonio Conte hasn’t officially taken over yet as he is still with Italy, but the Blues seem to be lurching from one target to the next.

Their main target in midfield is Roma’s Radja Nainggolan, but little has been said of that deal for a while.

And as Chelsea look to reevaluate, Sky Sports report that Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini would welcome the chance to move to Stamford Bridge.

Nobody will be more surprised by that move than Sunderland fans, as he has failed to make an impact for the Black Cats.

Somehow, though, he has still made Italy’s Euro 2016 squad, under Conte, and in fact scored their opening goal of the tournament in the 2-0 win over Belgium, one of the favourites.

He was loaned out to Bologna last season because he couldn’t settle in the Premier League, but if Conte believes he can get the best out of him, then perhaps he is ready to give him another chance.
