Tottenham are set to finally offload Nabil Bentaleb, with Napoli his most likely destination according to the Daily Mail.
The Serie A outfit are interested in bringing the 21-year-old to Southern Italy and it seems that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is more than happy to oblige.
Bentaleb fell completely out of favour this season and was restricted to just two Premier League appearances, though injuries have also played a major role in the Algerian’s demise.
Spurs need to be careful not to let too many of their central midfielders go, as Ryan Mason is reportedly set for a move to Bournemouth, while Tom Carroll’s future is also uncertain.
Pochettino doesn’t want to be left without any back-up in that area, currently occupied by Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele, but the Mail believe that by selling Bentaleb, he can make room for Victor Wanyama.
Wanyama worked under Pochettino at Southampton and the move has been on the cards for quite some time.
He is undoubtedly a step up from Bentaleb, who hasn’t fulfilled his potential since being handed a chance by Pochettino’s predecessor Tim Sherwood.
And so with Bentaleb, the exodus could begin. The question is whether he will find his feet again in Italy, or fade into obscurity.
