Rumours linking West Ham with a double swoop for unwanted Arsenal pair Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are wide of the mark.
As brought to our attention by the Daily Star, Jack Sullivan, the son of David Sullivan, who co-owns West Ham with David Gold, tweeted:
“Just spoke to dad, we are not interested in Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain!”
It will come as bad news to the Gunners pair, who have fallen out of favour at the north London club.
In many ways, Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain have a lot in common.
Both signed as youngsters from Southampton, but both haven’t really fulfilled their potential despite initially breaking into the England squad at a young age.
The pair have both become known for their pace, but also share an inability to consistently create anything from it with their final ball.
It seems fitting that they look set to depart at the same time, though if West Ham aren’t interested, it now looks unlikely that they’ll end up at the same club.
