Antonio Conte has been charged with turning Chelsea back into a formidable force, and if he gets his way this summer, he should be able to do just that.
The problem is, however, that he is reliant on his transfer targets actually wanting to move to Stamford Bridge.
Radja Nainggolan is one such target.
In fact, securing his signature is one of Chelsea’s priorities.
However, Nainggolan has reiterated that he is happy with Serie A club Roma, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Belgian midfielder, who has been in Italy for 11 years, had previously admitted to talking to Chelsea over a potential move, as he admitted their interest was hard to ignore.
But as the Blues have no European football, not even the Europa League, to offer, they may find it hard to tempt the box-to-box midfielder away the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma finished third last season, a clear 11 points behind champions Juventus.
Juve are pretty much untouchable right now, but Napoli and Roma are in a contest to be the ‘best of the rest’.
Roma have partly been in that position because of Nainggolan, and so it would take a pretty hefty price tag – and a swift change of heart from the talisman – for them to let him go.
