French wonderkid in United’s sights

MANCHESTER UNITED are hot on the heels of promising Bordeaux midfielder Adam Ounas, according to a number of sources.

In fact, Metro claim the Old Trafford giants have already opened talks with the 19-year-old.

The paper reports that United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has told new boss Jose Mourinho that he will have £200million to spend as an initial transfer budget in order to get the Red Devils back where they belong and it looks as though some of that will be spent on luring Ounas to the club.

United scouts have been keeping a close eye on Ounas for some time now and the attacking midfielder certainly made a big impression last season, scoring six times in 28 appearances for a Bordeaux side that finished around mid-table.

Ligue One rivals Monaco are also interested in the France Under-20 international – who has three years left to run on his current contract at Bordeaux – but they’d struggle to match the spending power of United.

According to Metro, the Red Devils would rather Ounas stayed another year in his homeland to develop but with Monaco in the hunt, they may be forced to move quickly.
