ARSENE WENGER is considering a move for Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi to bolster his strike-force.
The Daily Mirror reports: “The Arsenal boss is eager to shake up his squad and Argentina star Icardi could be available for £25million this summer.
“Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have been tracking the 23-year-old forward, who is odds on to leave the Italian club.”
Icardi has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, but last month the striker played down talk of a switch to England.
He told Corriere della Sera: “Every year they say that I’m leaving, it’s always the same story.
“The club has done great work by bringing in top players.
“So where do you want me to go? I’m happy to be here, to be the captain, the striker and to score.”
Wenger has also looked at Juventus forward Alvaro Morata, 23, while the Gunners aim to strengthen their defence as well.
They have already checked out Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez, 20, capped by France at Under-21 level, while Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, 19, and Fulham’s hot teenage prospect Ryan Sessegnon have been on their radar for a while now.
Is Icardi the answer to Arsenal’s striking problems?
