Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has mounted pressure on Tottenham Hotspurs ahead of their encounter on Monday, claiming Spurs could be their own downfall.
Chelsea face their London rivals as Mauricio Pocchettino’s side now trail Leicester City by 8 points in the title race.
The Foxes extended their lead at the top of the table after their 1-1 draw with Manchester United and Hiddink says Tottenham could be the causes of their own debacle if they allow nerves to have the better of them.
“They are now experiencing being at the top,” Sky Sports News quotes Hiddink as saying. “I’m not much into statistics, but it’s the first time in their history they’re now in the end competing for the Premier League title.
“In some players it might cause nerves. They might under-perform a bit. Leicester are fearless but some Spurs players might be affected by being on top and think ‘what now?’.
“We shouldn’t over-evaluate it in the sense it’s just Tottenham. We desperately like to win, then the next game.”
