Masterchef more appealing than Gunners admits Wenger

ARSENE WENGER admitted Arsenal fans would rather watch Masterchef than his team at the Emirates.

The remarkable ‘confession’ came after thousands of disillusioned supporters stayed away as the Gunners beat West Brom 2-0 on Thursday.

Asked whether the snub was down to the cooking programme on TV, boss Wenger said: “That’s a good reason, maybe. Why not?”

“My message to the fans is to come and support the team. If you love football, I think you see quality here.

“That’s what we try to give our people but playing on a Thursday night is special and I don’t know if anyone is intelligent enough to detect exactly why everybody did not turn up tonight.”

While the official attendance of 59,568 was very close to a full house, that figure is misleading as it was for the number of tickets sold rather than people actually inside the stadium.

It’s a worrying sign for Arsenal with fans clearly starting to vote with their feet in protest at what they see as yet another title challenge having crumbled in the latter stages of a season.

However, a defiant Wenger insisted the Gunners are not the only big team who should be getting heavy criticism.

The Frenchman said: “Because Leicester are in front of us and they were bottom last year, everyone thinks we should have done it this season.

“Yes, okay, but you can say that for every other Premier League team.”

Not sure that that will wash with disgruntled Arsenal fans?

Guess what the other “big teams” who failed did about?

Yes, they have or are bulletins their managers.

Arsenal? No problem, failure is just par for the course.
