Real Madrid star offered to United

CR7

REAL MADRID have reportedly offered Manchester United the chance to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of the season – if they stump up £48.2million.

PSG have also been linked with the three-time Ballon d’Or winner, although it is believed they would prefer to sign Neymar from Barcelona.

The Brazilian forward is only 24 and has more years left at the highest level and would also provide a significantly better sell-on price should the French giants end up selling him later on.

Spanish publication ES reports:

“Real have decided to cash in on the 31-year-old at the end of the season because his contract expires in 2018 and he will only lose value.”

“Ronaldo played for United between 2003 and 2009 before his then-world record £80m move to Real. The Portuguese scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for the Old Trafford side, and won three Premier League titles, three League Cups, one FA Cup and one Champions League in a trophy-laden spell with the club.”

If it’s true Real Madrid are prepared to let Ronaldo go – and it’s a big “if” as it’s been mooted on several occasions in recent years, only to fizzle out to nothing – it’s a fair bet the Portuguese star will be wearing the red of United next season.

Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to one day return to Old Trafford, while United fans still hold him close to their hearts.

With the possible exception of PSG, there is nowhere else in Europe that Ronaldo would leave Madrid for.

He may be 31 but Ronaldo has enjoyed another prolific campaign, scoring 42 goals in 40 appearances for Real in all competitions – three more than the Red Devils have managed as a team in the Premier League this season.

The return of the prodigal son would provide an instant lift to the gloom that’s surrounded Old Trafford for much of the past couple of years – and that’s without him even stepping on to the pitch.

Will Ronaldo be a United player next season?
