Former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria has spoken out for the first time since his departure from the English side in 2015 to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain.
He spent only a single season with the Red Devils after signing from Real Madrid in a five-year deal worth £59.7m.
The midfielder who scored only four times in 32 games fell out with manager Loius Van Gaal and also failed to settle properly in England, according to reports.
The 27-year-old however denies he forced a move out of Old Trafford and reveals his motivation for leaving Man United.
“Every time I was given the opportunity I did the best I could but it didn’t work out,” Di Maria told BBC Sport.
“I decided to leave, not only to be happy, but to win things.
“I started a game in a position, and then the next one I would be in another,
“I scored goals playing in one position, and then suddenly the next game I was picked to play in a different position.”
